Carve out time to sink deeply into your self, supportive community, and into the vibrancy of nature. Time on this remote, off-the- grid island will provide an opportunity to unplug from the business of the day-to- day tasks, to-dos, and unconscious habits we all can get lost in and instead sync up to our natural rhythms. Fall is a time of transition in nature, the days become shorter and cooler, plants share their last fruits, and animals begin preparation for hibernation. When we recognize this transition happening around us and align with it, allowing for slowing down, settling in, and deep listening, we can cultivate deeper steadiness and balance in our minds, bodies, and lives. Come nourish your body with delicious, whole foods, feed your spirit with meditation, yoga, and Ayurveda, and open all your senses to the awe-inspiring beauty of Penobscot Bay. Come rest, restore, and re-awaken as you more deeply align to the flow of the season.

Hurricane Island is in Penobscot Bay, 10 miles southeast of Rockland,ME and two miles southwest of Vinalhaven in the Fox Islands archipelago.  Please note, there is over an hour boat ride in the open ocean to get to and from the island.  If you have troubles with big seas or movement, please be forewarned and take any medical precautions needed for safe and healthy travels.

The island measures about one mile by one-half mile, totaling 125 acres. The island is now home to the Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership, run by the Hurricane Island Foundation whose goal is to “to create and preserve an open and sustainable island community that supports and enhances the educational opportunities of youth from Maine and beyond.” The facilities include breathtaking views and two large community rooms perfect for yoga and meditation.

Participants will sleep in cabins or yurts. All housing will be shared housing, separated by gender. The cabins and yurts have wooden bed frames and mattresses, but you will need to pack your own bedding. You can also bring your own tent and set up camp as well.

All meals will be shared together in the main dining hall. The meals are sourced with fresh, local, and organic ingredients. Whole food will be the priority to nourish our cells and bodies. Sustainably harvested meat and fish may be offered, but, there will be plenty of options for those who prefer a plant-based diet. Please be in touch and let us know of your dietary needs, restrictions, or allergies.

Included in the cost: all program activities, food, shared lodging, transport to and from island from Rockland, Maine.
